Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Shopify, Claude.

Step 1: Connect the reviews source

  1. Choose the source: Shopify Reviews app export, or your reviews API.
  2. Export or pull recent reviews (last 30-90 days) with rating, body, name, date.
  3. Load them into a sheet 'Reviews Raw'.
  4. Keep the star rating column — it matters for selection.
  5. Test the pull works.

Watch out: Filter to 4-5 star reviews only for testimonials — 3-star 'okay' quotes dilute the bank.

Step 2: Add the extractor prompt

  1. Build: 'From these reviews, pick the 5 strongest for a testimonial bank. For each: exact quote, benefit it highlights, and a rewrite as a short attribution (First name only). Return array with quoteOriginal, benefit, attribution.'
  2. Instruct: quotes must be verbatim; never invent or modify customer words.
  3. Prefer specificity (named results, numbers) over praise-without-detail.
  4. Paste with API key.
  5. Test on a batch.

Watch out: 'Verbatim only' is the guardrail here — doctored quotes are a legal and trust landmine.

Step 3: Format for posting

  1. Decide the format per channel: site homepage block, campaign email, social graphic.
  2. Store each selected testimonial as a row: Quote, Benefit, Attribution, Status (banked/used).
  3. Add a 'Used In' column so you rotate rather than repeat.
  4. Keep attribution to first name and a descriptor (e.g. 'Small agency founder') if permitted by the review.
  5. Save the bank.

Watch out: Confirm your reviews' terms allow republication — most platforms do, but store the consent if asked.

Step 4: Save the bank

  1. Maintain the testimonial bank as the single spreadsheet of record.
  2. Pull new reviews weekly and append new picks.
  3. Mark usage and refresh the 'Used In' column.
  4. Keep 10+ ready at all times for campaigns.
  5. Quarterly prune stale (old product) testimonials.

Watch out: Refresh cadence matters — a testimonial about a pricing tier you no longer sell actively harms conversion.
