Blog to Social Summarizer

Every new blog post auto-generates a punchy LinkedIn and X summary.

Saves about ~1 hr per week

What it does

  • Watches your blog for new posts
  • Summarizes each post into a hook + key point format
  • Generates a LinkedIn post and an X thread variant
  • Saves drafts for review with your link attached

How it works

  1. New post detected on the blog
  2. AI extracts the core argument
  3. LinkedIn + X variants drafted
  4. Drafts saved with the post link

What's included

  • RSS trigger
  • Summary prompts
  • Draft routing

Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Claude.

Step 1: Add the RSS trigger

  1. Get your blog's RSS feed URL (WordPress /feed, Substack /feed, Ghost /rss).
  2. In your automation add the RSS read node or HTTP GET to the feed.
  3. Parse the latest item: title, url, content.
  4. Track the last-seen post id so you only process new ones.
  5. Test with your latest post.

Watch out: Guidance: subscribe to your own feed in a side channel — it is the fastest sanity check that the trigger fires correctly.

Step 2: Write the summarizer prompt

  1. Build: 'Summarize this post. Output: 1) Hook — a surprising or contrarian opening. 2) The 3 key points. 3) LinkedIn post ≤200 words. 4) X thread of 3 posts.'
  2. Add: link to the post at the end of every variant.
  3. Set tone to your voice (paste a one-line voice note).
  4. Paste with API key into the AI node.
  5. Test on an old post.

Watch out: Summaries need your conclusion, not the post's intro — instruction 'summarize what the post argues, don't just restate the title' prevents generic output.

Step 3: Set the output format

  1. Choose destinations: a Google Doc 'Social Queue', Notion database, or a sheet with one row per post.
  2. Keep source URL as the linking column.
  3. Set a flag 'drafted' so re-runs skip already-processed posts.
  4. Test that a new post creates exactly one row with both variants.
  5. If using Docs, format each variant as a headed section.

Watch out: The 'drafted' flag prevents duplicates when the feed re-lists the same post on parse hiccups.

Step 4: Route to review

  1. Save drafts to the destination with Status = Draft.
  2. Review and approve in your normal content flow.
  3. Optional: add a deep-link from the queue to schedule directly.
  4. Run for a week, then set the trigger to auto.
  5. Watch the first 10 drafts for tone drift and update the voice note.

Watch out: Auto-post is the risk — keep this one draft-only; the value is speed to first draft, not removing your judgment.
