Live-Context Social Drafts

Drafts written from what people are saying today — not your six-month-old training data.

Saves about ~2 hrs per week

What it does

  • Checks X and the web for what's actually being said about your topic
  • Drafts posts that lead with the surprising or current angle
  • Produces LinkedIn, X, and newsletter variants
  • Lands drafts in your review doc ready to publish

How it works

  1. Scheduled run checks today's conversation
  2. AI drafts trend-aware posts per platform
  3. Drafts saved to your review doc
  4. You approve and post

What's included

  • Topic setup
  • Live-context prompt
  • Daily draft schedule

Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Grok.

Step 1: Pick your topics

  1. List the 5 topics you want daily drafts for (your niche's core conversations).
  2. For each, write 2-3 search phrases: the topic plus 2 common angles.
  3. Put the topic list in a sheet the workflow reads.
  4. Keep topics stable — daily drafts only compound value if the thread stays consistent.

Watch out: Choose topics you can credibly comment on — an AI drafting daily hot takes on topics you don't know burns your credibility.

Step 2: Connect Grok

  1. Create an xAI API key at https://console.x.ai (Grok's API).
  2. In n8n create a 'Grok' or generic HTTP node pointing at the Grok API endpoint.
  3. Configure the live-search enabled prompt: 'Search X and the web for what is being said about {topic} today. Then draft a LinkedIn post, an X thread, and a newsletter blurb.'
  4. Add your API key as a header.
  5. Test on one topic and inspect the freshness of the references.

Watch out: Live-search capability depends on your Grok plan/API tier — verify the model you call supports tool/web access.

Step 3: Add the format prompt

  1. After the research step, add a formatting step: 'Rewrite these notes into: 1) LinkedIn post ≤200 words with a hook. 2) X thread of 3-5 posts. 3) Newsletter blurb ≤80 words.'
  2. Set tone: direct, opinionated, no filler.
  3. Instruct to lead with the most surprising or counterintuitive finding.
  4. Save outputs to the review doc.
  5. Test twice on the same topic to compare variety.

Watch out: Lead-with-the-surprise is the instruction that makes live-context drafts different from generic content — keep it in.

Step 4: Set the schedule

  1. Schedule the flow weekdays at 8am so drafts are ready before you think about posting.
  2. Route each topic's drafts to the review doc (Notion or Docs).
  3. Add a 'Daily Drafts' tag/status so approved ones are tracked.
  4. Review the first week's outputs for quality before trusting it.
  5. Tune topics quarterly — what's live today is stale in three months.

Watch out: You must still fact-check claims with real stakes — Grok writes fluently even when it misreads the live data.
