Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Grok, Slack.

Step 1: Set up the social source scan

  1. Choose what's practical for each platform: Instagram graph API (with a business account), TikTok/YouTube via search or public feeds, or a mention-listening tool.
  2. For the DIY path, connect what your platform connectors support (many provide a mentions search).
  3. Test the scan finds your brand name + hashtag.
  4. Store each platform's credentials.
  5. Keep scope realistic — one benefit per platform beats a broken multi-platform setup.

Watch out: Platform APIs change constantly and brand-safe access varies — start with the one platform where mentions most move your business; add the rest as the connectors mature.

Step 2: Add the scoring prompt

  1. Build: 'Classify this social mention: sentiment, creator-follower size (if available), isComplaint, isNoteworthy (post/review vs noise). Return JSON.'
  2. Noteworthy = engagement, big account, complaint, or original content.
  3. Paste with API key.
  4. Test on a batch of mentions.
  5. Calibrate what counts as noteworthy.

Watch out: The noteworthy threshold decides whether the channel survives — if every mention posts, the channel dies of noise within a week.

Step 3: Post notable mentions

  1. Create the mentions Slack channel + webhook.
  2. Post noteworthy + all complaints: platform, link, snippet, sentiment.
  3. Daily count line for total mentions.
  4. Dedupe by post link + date.
  5. Test the flow.

Watch out: Complaints must post even when not 'noteworthy' — the complaint lane is for action, the notable lane is for awareness.

Step 4: Weekly volume summary

  1. Weekly: mentions by platform, sentiment split, top posts, complaint count.
  2. Compare against last week.
  3. Deliver to the same channel or email.
  4. Review trends monthly.
  5. Use spikes to trigger a deeper look.

Watch out: The volume trend is what makes the daily feed useful — a 4× complaint spike is the signal to investigate a product or policy change.
