  • ICP matching
  • Outreach scoring

Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: OpenCrawl, Slack.

Step 1: Add funding sources

  1. Sources: Crunchbase feed, your industry press, TechCrunch/Product Hunt-style feeds, the 'raised' reporters for your niche.
  2. Add the feeds/portals to the crawl.
  3. Test extraction of: company, amount, round, date, industry.
  4. Keep the source list in one place.
  5. Prune noisy sources.

Watch out: Your niche's funding reporters write 'X raises $Y' before the aggregators do — include them or you're a day late on every hot company.

Step 2: Define your ICP

  1. Write the ICP fields: industry, stage (series A etc.), size, geography.
  2. Match each funding announcement to the ICP.
  3. Add a 'likely need' mapping (a Series A in ecommerce likely needs X).
  4. Test the matching on past rounds.
  5. Refine quarterly.

Watch out: Funding stage matters — a seed round often means 'hiring, not buying', a Series A/B is the buying window; match accordingly.

Step 3: Add the scoring prompt

  1. Build: 'Score this funded company for outreach potential 0-100: ICP match, round size, timing (fresh funding), likely need for {our service}. Return JSON: {score, reason, suggestedAngle}.'
  2. Suggested angle: reference the funding ('congrats on the round — many teams find X after raising').
  3. Paste with API key.
  4. Test on 5 recent rounds.
  5. Review the angles for tact.

Watch out: The suggested angle is what separates a personal note from a gold-rush blast — make the 'reference the funding' line specific.

Step 4: Post to Slack

  1. Create the #funded Slack channel + webhook.
  2. Post targets score ≥ 60: company, amount, stage, angle, contact hint.
  3. Weekly summary of total raised in your space.
  4. Dedupe by company.
  5. Test the posting flow.

Watch out: Weekly totals give you the market picture; daily target posts give you the action list — keep both, they serve different questions.
