Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Shopify.

Step 1: Add the price-save hook

  1. Add a 'notify me on price drop' form/snippet to product pages (theme edit).
  2. Save entries to a sheet: Email, Product, Variant, Save Price (current at save time), Saved Date.
  3. Test the hook captures an entry.
  4. Note the product handle for the template link.

Watch out: Record the price at save-time — you can only claim a 'drop' against a baseline.

Step 2: Track prices daily

  1. Connect the product price read (read_products).
  2. Daily, compare each watched product's current price to its saved price.
  3. Flag drops of any size (or a minimum % if you want).
  4. Log the new price back to the sheet.
  5. Test with a real price edit.

Watch out: A minimum threshold keeps it meaningful — a 3% drop email undermines trust more than it drives sales.

Step 3: Send the drop email

  1. Email: '{product} dropped from $X to $Y' with CTA and the new price.
  2. Include the date the drop ends if it's a sale.
  3. Mark the row alerted.
  4. Send within the detection cycle.
  5. Test the template renders the numbers.

Watch out: Show both old and new price explicitly — 'on sale' without the delta reads as marketing fluff.

Step 4: Throttle repeat alerts

  1. Max 1 alert per product per customer per 30 days.
  2. Stop if the customer purchased the product (from Orders).
  3. Cap total alerts per customer per month.
  4. Scrub unsubscribed addresses.
  5. Review alert-to-purchase rate monthly.

Watch out: The 30-day cap is the difference between 'helpful price watcher' and 'discount spam'.
