OKR Progress Tracker

OKR check-ins collected, summarized, and trended — no spreadsheet archaeology.

Saves about ~1 hr per week

What it does

  • Collects periodic OKR check-ins from owners
  • Summarizes progress vs targets
  • Flags lagging objectives
  • Tracks trend across check-in cycles

How it works

  1. Check-in form sent to owners
  2. Updates compiled
  3. Lagging OKRs flagged
  4. Trend sheet updated

What's included

  • Check-in form
  • Progress compile
  • Flags + trends

Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Slack, Sheets.

Step 1: Set the check-in form

  1. Create the check-in form: Objective, % complete, key achievements, blockers, next step.
  2. Send it on your check-in cadence (weekly or biweekly).
  3. Store responses in a sheet.
  4. Test a check-in arrives.
  5. Keep ownership per OKR assigned.

Watch out: The check-in cadence must match your operating rhythm — a weekly form nobody fills because OKRs move monthly is dead on arrival; match the beat.

Step 2: Summarize progress

  1. Compute each OKR's % and delta vs last check-in.
  2. Summarize per owner/team.
  3. Flag OKRs < 40% at quarter's midpoint.
  4. Paste with AI for a readable summary if desired.
  5. Test the compilation.

Watch out: The delta vs last check-in is as important as the % — an OKR stuck at 55% for six weeks is a different story than one that jumped 40→55.

Step 3: Flag and post

  1. Post the progress summary to the team channel after each cycle.
  2. Flag lagging OKRs prominently.
  3. DM owners of lagging OKRs with their numbers.
  4. Test the flag paths.
  5. Keep the post tight.

Watch out: DM-then-channel for laggards: the dm is the nudge, the summary is the transparency — doing both is how OKRs stay real instead of performative.

Step 4: Trend tracking

  1. Append each cycle's numbers to the trend sheet.
  2. Build the per-OKR trend line.
  3. At quarter's end, review which OKRs compound vs stall.
  4. Feed the trends into next quarter's target-setting.
  5. Review quarterly.

Watch out: Use trends for next-quarter targets — an OKR that crawled from 20→25% across two months is telling you the target or resourcing is wrong, not that 'we need to try harder'.
