About the Hashtag Formatter

Copied hashtags arrive with commas, duplicate tags and broken punctuation. This formatter strips invalid characters, removes duplicates, optionally lowercases everything and returns a clean space-separated list with the right number signs.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste the hashtag listCommas, spaces and new lines are all accepted as separators.
  2. 2Choose clean-up rulesDeduplicate, lowercase and cap the number of tags.
  3. 3Copy the resultUse the formatted list in a caption, description or comment.

Why use this hashtag formatter?

  • Nothing leaves your device. The work happens in your browser tab. There is no upload endpoint in this app, so your files and text cannot be stored, logged or seen by us.
  • No upload wait. You skip the round trip to a server entirely. Results are limited by your own CPU, not by network speed or queue size.
  • Free, no account, no quotas. No sign-up wall, no watermark, no daily limit. Optional accounts only exist to save favourites and presets across devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is my hashtag list safe to use here?

Yes. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, and the page keeps no copy after you close it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool is fully usable without signing in. An account only adds saved favourites and reusable presets.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The interface is mobile-first with large touch targets and a stacked layout, so it works on phones and tablets as well as desktops.

How many hashtags should I use?

Instagram allows up to 30 but 3–8 focused tags usually perform better. LinkedIn and X work best with 1–3 relevant tags. YouTube uses tags in the description, not as hashtags.

How are spaces handled?

A space starts a new hashtag, because platforms do not allow spaces inside tags. “#browser tools” becomes #browser #tools; remove the space yourself if you want #browsertools.

Do uppercase and lowercase hashtags differ?

Hashtags are case-insensitive on most platforms, so #WebDev and #webdev point to the same topic. CamelCase can still help readability.
