Store Health Weekly Overview

One weekly Slack message: sales, conversions, stockouts, returns, and support backlog.

Saves about ~1 hr per week

  • Compares against the previous week
  • Posts a scannable Monday digest to Slack

How it works

  1. Store data pulled Monday morning
  2. Metrics computed vs prior week
  3. Digest formatted and scored
  4. Posted to #store-health

What's included

  • Data connectors
  • Metric definitions
  • Monday Slack digest

Set it up yourself

Follow these 4 steps in order. You will need accounts for: Shopify, Slack.

Step 1: Connect the data sources

  1. Shopify admin API token with read_orders, read_products, read_inventory.
  2. Support backlog: your helpdesk API or the support sheet.
  3. Add a 'goals' row per metric (weekly sales target).
  4. Test the reads return numbers.

Watch out: Define the metric definitions once (e.g. conversion = orders ÷ sessions from the analytics export) so weekly numbers are comparable.

Step 2: Define the metrics

  1. Pick 5 numbers: revenue, orders, conversion, stockouts count, return rate, open support tickets.
  2. Compute week-over-week change for each.
  3. Add a simple health color per metric (green/amber/red vs target).
  4. Test the math on last week's data.
  5. Keep the metric list stable — changing metrics weekly kills trend readouts.

Watch out: Five tracked numbers beat twenty assembled ones — a scannable digest is the goal.

Step 3: Build the digest format

  1. Structure: header week, 6 metric lines (name, value, vs last week, color), one AI one-line takeaway.
  2. Add the takeaway: 'Conversion dipped while traffic grew — check the landing page'.
  3. Build the AI summary from the raw numbers (no invented metrics).
  4. Test rendering in Slack formatting.
  5. Post on Mondays 9am.

Watch out: Let the AI only comment on the numbers given — a hallucinated 'inventory issue' in the digest undermines trust fast.

Step 4: Review and act

  1. Use the digest to decide this week's ops focus.
  2. Red metrics → action: stockouts → reorder; conversion dip → check pages.
  3. Keep a trend sheet so you see the direction across months.
  4. Adjust goals quarterly.
  5. Invite the whole team to the channel (visibility = accountability).

Watch out: The Monday digest only helps if it feeds a decision — tie red metrics to a task in your ops tool the same morning.
