About the API Token Generator

Generate a random token for an API key, webhook secret or signing secret. Choose the encoding, length and an optional prefix such as sk_live_ so keys are easy to identify without exposing them.

How to use it

  1. 1Pick an encodingBase64URL is compact; hex is easy to copy; alphanumeric avoids symbols.
  2. 2Set the length32 bytes (43 Base64URL characters) is a common minimum for secrets.
  3. 3Store it securelySave the token in a secret manager and show it to the user once.

Why use this api token generator?

  • Nothing leaves your device. The work happens in your browser tab. There is no upload endpoint in this app, so your files and text cannot be stored, logged or seen by us.
  • No upload wait. You skip the round trip to a server entirely. Results are limited by your own CPU, not by network speed or queue size.
  • Free, no account, no quotas. No sign-up wall, no watermark, no daily limit. Optional accounts only exist to save favourites and presets across devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is my token safe to use here?

Yes. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, and the page keeps no copy after you close it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool is fully usable without signing in. An account only adds saved favourites and reusable presets.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The interface is mobile-first with large touch targets and a stacked layout, so it works on phones and tablets as well as desktops.

How many bits should an API token have?

At least 128 bits of entropy, ideally 256. A 43-character Base64URL string is about 258 bits. Avoid human-chosen strings.

Is a prefix safe?

Yes. Prefixes such as sk_live_ are not secret and help secret scanners recognise leaked keys. The random part must still be long.
